Although its an American phenomenon, clients are increasingly asking us to provide props and china for Baby Showers with a retro twist. So in the spirit of Call the Midwife, here's a look at a few styling and prop ideas for vintage inspired baby showers.
The Girl v Boy route can look really pretty too. We like to use just hints of colour by dressing neutral props - like the crates, boxes or a plain white table cloths- with pretty china, old books with coloured spines, flowers or even just adding stripy straws and pretty napkins. Our Hexangonal drinks dispensers looks fab filled with pink lemonade too!
I love the idea of using vintage games and toys for styling and we have a suitcase full of vintage games that make a fab alternative to nappy races (although they are fun too).
And we have a 1950s Silvercross Pram for hire - ideal for filling with all of those baby gifts!
Since becoming a mum, I've come across some fantastic shops and websites and I'll be writing about them in a post very soon. In the meantime, its the last episode of Call the Midwife this week! Tune in!
If you would like to hire something or would just like to discuss your ideas, we'd love to hear from you. Email: info@saffronvintagehire.co.uk or telephone: 07887 947688
