Dancing on the Edge

I can't get enough of the delicious mix of vintage on television at the moment. It's a source of inspiration for lots of our event styling and I think we all love a bit of escapism. So, I've decided to feature a different costume drama each week for the next few weeks. We'll look at the styling of the era and how it can work for a wedding.

To kick things off it's Steven Poliakoff's DANCING ON THE EDGE!

Set primarily in the 1930s - its all about Jazzy Glamour, Ballrooms, Fur, Fizz, Art Deco Styling and Slinky Dresses. This era works really well for weddings as the men look daper and the women are full-on glamorous. As displayed by this beautiful pair: Chiwetel Ejiofor and Janet Montgomery

I think black, white and metallic tones work really well for styling this era:
Our own wedding had a number of 1930s hints to it. Including my shoes!

We recently supplied props to Art Deco venue, The Hawksmoor, Guildhall in London. Including this Kissing Booth and cameras:

This was the age of the Movie Star and dreams of having your name up in lights. So this is the perfect finishing touch for a 1930s inspired event:
